Flooding in Spain
On Tuesday, 29 October 2024, flash flooding caused by torrential rainfall swept across southeast Spain. Weather agencies estimate that about a year’s worth of rain fell in the span of 8 hours. The Spanish military has deployed in the region to assist with recovery efforts, due to damage caused by the flooding.
In addition, the Spanish government has established a crisis committee and declared three days of mourning for the floods. Disruption to travel is anticipated, as trains and airlines have suspended operations due to the flooding.
